Women’s Support Group Circles Deep Connection
As a child I remember sitting and listening for hours to my own women’s support group – my grandmother and great aunt! They would be knitting, sewing, dusting, polishing or in late summer, peeling vegetables and cutting up fruits ready to blanch for winter storage. All sorts of tales would come out, and I loved joining in learning to knit or prepare the harvested fruits with them. This was a naturally formed women’s support group, where I felt a deep connection, through listening to their stories, sharing and sometimes singing. I also started songwriting as a child, and would teach my songs to my grandmother and great aunt who would have a go at singing them as I strummed the guitar. Little did I know, that this would form part of my musical origin story, which grew and evolved with the classical influence from my flautist mother, and the jazz influence from my father who plays the saxophone and clarinet.
Many communities through history have had gatherings of women in the same way which create a natural, empowering, healing and supportive space fostering close relationships, wellbeing and a sense of security and trust.
We can put down our roles as mother, wife, daughter, grandmother, sister, carer, employee or entrepreneur and just be the expression of ourselves. You might say this was the natural therapy before therapy became a thing.
Listening with an open heart to each other without necessarily finding solutions is very powerful.
A Women’s Support Group is a Place for Deep Connection
We connect through stories, listening, sharing, supporting, singing, poetry, music and meditating. My ‘Claire McAllister Coaching Women’s Support Group’ meets online or near the New Forest in Hampshire, to connect, share and support each other in a nurturing and non-judgmental setting.
You can share as much or as little as you want.
We set an intention and we may sometimes do different practices like make sounds with drums, shakers, voice and/or movement or we may do reflective practices, read poetry, listen to music or do different meditations.
Refreshments are included in the 2 hour gathering (for local circles).
