Separation Anxiety My Story

Separation anxiety was my story which led to emotional healing and living in every moment.

Living With Separation Anxiety This is My Story

Trauma and personal challenges in my youth changed the course of my career and the long, slow journey of overcoming them have made me what I am today.

I felt acute separation anxiety through my life and a sense of abandonment that only subsided when I started to care for my inner child.

My mother died suddenly a few days after my twenty-second birthday. I was in shock and denial for over thirty years not able to accept that she had gone. I lived several decades with this pain locked inside. My loss was too much for me to feel at the time and still today it feels too much.

Grief can feel like a paradox, it takes so many twists and turns showing up in apparently unconnected ways, such as anger with the world, or being too busy and restless. For me I just had to keep moving forward fast but I was avoiding the pain and eventually had to stop and face it.

As a single, unsupported mum of three children, I had to dig deep and focus on doing the best I could for my family. For many years I moved forward, trying to do many things at the same time but not feeling entirely emotionally complete. I was overwhelmed and burnt out, so I made a choice. To slow down, to start to live fully awake in the moment, to feel the feelings fully, to understand my limitations and gently face what I had been avoiding, to blossom into the flower of myself. I asked for help and started my journey towards joy and fulfilment.

Fast forward to today, having worked on my emotional healing and separation anxiety, I am thriving as a holistic life coach, mentor, singer-songwriter, jazz vocalist, writer and artist. My work is about creating, expressing, questioning, pushing boundaries, celebrating and helping others reach their own recovery and potential.

I have gained so much knowledge and wisdom in my training, researching, developing, working and experience in the areas of trauma, nervous system regulation, somatic therapies, meditation, philosophy, mindfulness and self-help practices. I have worked as a qualified teacher both in the UK and abroad and have nearly nineteen years experience in the music industry as a singer, songwriter, band leader, and coach.

I have found that whatever you are experiencing today there are always ways to improve our situation and feel better even when we believe it impossible. If we sit down and meet our suffering fully in the present moment something happens, it transforms, it is never quite the same again. Something new emerges. It doesn’t mean we won’t suffer again but we get closer to our true self, feel more complete and at peace, richer and happier step by step. This time we are writing our story the way we want to.

Very often part of our emotional healing and recovery from difficult times might be to find a new purpose or outlet, to build something or organise ways to help people who have had the same experiences.

Let’s begin your journey together today!
